Stockport Fencing & Landscaping

Merry Christmas from everyone at Rik’s!

Professional Fencing & Landscaping in Stockport

Another year done and dusted. We’ve been flat out across Stockport, Manchester and Cheshire putting up fences, laying patios, sorting out gardens that people had been meaning to deal with for ages. Thanks to everyone who trusted us with their outdoor space this year. It’s genuinely appreciated.

You’re probably full of turkey and thinking the last thing you want to talk about is spending more money, fair enough. But stick with me for a minute because January is going to be crazy and I’d rather have this chat now while you’ve got five minutes.

Here’s the Thing About Waiting

Every single January we get absolutely hammered with calls. Everyone’s had the same lightbulb moment over Christmas looking at their knackered fence or boggy lawn thinking “right, this year we’re definitely sorting that out”. They all ring us in the same two week period.

Our diary fills up, fast. The good slots in spring when you actually want to be using your garden? Gone by mid January. Then people are looking at summer or later and half the year’s disappeared.

Book now and you pick your dates. Wait until spring and you get what’s left. It’s that simple.

What’s Actually Wrong With Your Garden?

Stop and actually think about it for a second. Not in a vague “it could be nicer” way. What specifically winds you up every time you look outside?

That fence that’s leaning over and you’re worried it’ll go completely in the next storm? That’s not getting better on its own. A new fence sorts privacy, security, stops the dog doing a runner. Job done.

A lawn that’s more mud than grass? You’ve tried everything, still looks terrible, kids come in filthy every time they play out there. Turfing and drainage isn’t sexy but it actually fixes the problem instead of you throwing money at grass seed every spring.

A patio that’s falling apart with weeds everywhere and wobbles when you walk on it? You avoid using it because it looks rough. A new patio or deck and suddenly you’ve got somewhere you actually want to sit.

Composite stuff is worth looking at. Costs more upfront but you’re not out there every year treating and painting it. Done once, it’s sorted for years.

Trees and hedges either need cutting back because they’ve gone wild or planting because you want more privacy. It makes more difference than you’d think.

This Isn’t Just About Summer

Your garden exists all year round. Obvious, but people forget. A decent fence looks smart in winter. A well laid patio doesn’t turn into an ice rink. Decent drainage means you’re not staring at a swamp from October to March.

You don’t need to go mad but thinking about it across the whole year instead of just when it’s sunny means you actually get value from it.

Money Talk

Garden work costs money. Good materials aren’t cheap and someone who knows what they’re doing takes time. If a quote sounds ridiculously cheap there’s a reason and you’ll regret it later.

Booking early gives you time to sort your budget. Can’t do everything at once? Fine. We can phase it. Fence first, patio later, turfing after that. Breaking it up makes it manageable.

It also means you’re not panicking in April and going with whoever can squeeze you in next week regardless of whether they’re any good.

Your garden adds value to your house if you’re selling. It’s where your kids play. It’s where you sit when the weather’s decent. It’s worth doing right instead of putting up with something that annoys you every day.

Why We’re Not Rubbish At This

We’ve been doing this long enough to know what works. We’re not going to sell you stuff you don’t need and we’re not going to bodge it to finish quicker.

We offer a free site survey. We come out, have an actual conversation about what you want, tell you honestly what’s doable and give you a quote. No pressure.

We do fencing, landscaping, decking, turfing, drainage, trees, hedges and maintenance. All of it to a great standard. We turn up when we say we will, we don’t leave your garden looking like a bomb site and we don’t disappear halfway through.

Most of our work comes from people recommending us to their neighbours or coming back for another project. That matters more than any amount of advertising.

Just Get It Booked

While you’ve got a few days off, look at your garden. Properly look at it. What would actually make a difference? Talk to whoever you live with about whether you’re finally going to sort it this year or just moan about it for another twelve months.

Then ring us in January. We’ll come have a look, talk through what makes sense and get you booked in.

Early slots are already being asked about. By mid January a chunk of our diary’s gone and by February the spring dates are done. This happens every single year.

If you want it sorted for when the weather gets better, book it before the weather gets better. It’s not exactly complicated.

That’s It Really

Have a brilliant Christmas. Eat too much, watch rubbish telly and spend time with people you actually like.

Your garden’s part of your home and when it works right it stops being something you avoid and becomes somewhere you actually use. That’s what we’re here for.

If we end up sorting your garden in 2026 we’ll do a decent job of it. If not, we hope you find someone good.

Merry Christmas.
